Kay and Anne-Katherin Schubert (Kenya)
Kay and Anne-Kathrin married in 1997 and worked in an evangelistic children's and youth ministry, as preparation for God's call to Africa, which they knew would come in His time. In January 2001, the time came!
In Kenya they first learned the national language Kishuaheli and helped in different street children programmes.
One of their main tasks was to plant a church amongst Sudanese refugees in Uthiru, near Nairobi. Besides the church programme, they run a sewing class for single mothers and offer private lessons for children unable to pay school fees.
Another area of ministry is to educate and train Africans to become missionaries, and then send them to countries like Sudan. By means of sending and supporting these Kenyan missionaries, the Schuberts have been able to plant a church deep in South Sudan (Wau). Through mercy ministries, like feeding programmes and so on, a strong work could be established. There is still no building, but there are plans. In 2006 during a famine, 700 families could be fed through transporting meals. Besides the practical, the church also provided a lot of spiritual help, including the experience of healing and miracles.
David and Maurice were born in 2006 and 2007 respectively. Kay and Anne-Kathrin are now in addition enrolled in a Bible seminary near Nairobi to study for a masters degree, which will help with the ministry in the south of the Sudan.
